Longiarù, Val Badia, the Dolomites. One of the most genuine corners of the valley is home to an ancient farmstead from the 16th century: the old village tavern and inn.
Fortune favours the brave
Martin, the wisdom of youth
Fast-food tourism is booming in the Dolomites: newer, more modern, all-the-samey hotels are sprouting like mushrooms. Martin decided to swim against the grain and pursue his father Giovanni’s dream: turn the Ostí Vedl, the “old tavern”, into a guesthouse with seven rooms, a kitchen, and Stube serving breakfast.
Longiarù, a whole new world
A 16th-century farmstead renovated with expertise – the outside is whitewashed stone, which turns into centuries-old timber indoors, restored to its previous glory. This is Longiarù, one of Val Badia’s side valleys. Time here stands still, as can be seen in the larjgei, the valley’s centuries-old larch forest. The Valle dei Mulini is a breathtaking archeologic park below the Putia meadows. Welcome to a peaceful corner of the Dolomites, far away from the louder, more touristy sites.
A timber kingdom
Relax and recharge your batteries in this South Tyrolean farmstead. It seems as though not a day has gone by since it was built: travel back in time without giving up any modern creature comforts. Prepare for a unique and enjoyable experience.
Rest
Small but amazing SPA
We’ve created a luxurious, small wellbeing corner with a view of the Dolomites. It boasts a Finnish sauna, a cold shock pool, an outdoor shower for the jacuzzi, and Martin’s pride and joy: a bed made of hay, collected and assembled by him, so guests can recharge their batteries and bask in the beneficial effect of mountain herbs.
A fairy-tale breakfast
The farmstead’s ground floor is home to the kitchen, the old Stube, and a breakfast room where we serve a typical Ladin breakfast. The spread consists of Maria’s mountain butter, elderberry flower syrup, homemade strawberry and apricot marmalade, freshly baked bread, mountain honey, and an amazing Speck cured as they did in the old days.
The wine cellar
Your typical Ladin farmstead consists of a cellar, ground floor with kitchen and Stube, first and second floor with the bedrooms and attic. Martin keeps an amazing Speck and outstanding bottles of wine in the old cellar. Out-of-this-world aperitivi – with ingredients like these, what did you expect?
A connoisseur’s dream

Explore the area to your heart’s content on foot, by bike, or climbing in peace and quiet. Pure bliss awaits between Longiarù and Antersasc, from the Valle dei Mulini to the Genova Hut, from the Putia hut to its peaks.
